A. Maudene Miller

A. Maudene Miller, age 88, of Sherman, went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2026, at her residence.

She was born on August 23, 1937, in El Monte, California, the daughter of Leo and Ruby Williams Pope.

Maudene married Evan Miller on November 9, 1956, at the Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield.

Mourning her passing are her children, Michael (wife Kayoko) Miller of Woodbridge, VA, Linda (wife Jeannine) Miller of Springfield, and Paula (husband Rick) Miller of Springfield; grandchildren, Courtney Provart, Brennan Halford, Holly Wolfe, Moriah Miller, Grace Miller, and Faith Miller; great-grandchildren, Savannah Provart, Evan Provart, Ellie Halford, Brennan Halford, and Rosie Wolfe; sister, Peggy Leach; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Evan; and great grandson, Kellan Halford.

Maudene graduated from Litchfield High School in 1954.

She retired from the State of Illinois Board of Education after 12 years of service.

Maudene was a member of the Athens Christian Church and a past member of the Living Faith Baptist Church in Sherman, IL.

She and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the country and the world. She loved to read and quilt throughout most of her life.

Visitation for Maudene will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. from 1:00 PM until time of funeral services at 3:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL. Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens immediately after the services.
