Abigail R. Ludwig

Abigail Ruth Ludwig, age 77, of Springfield, passed away from a progressive illness on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born on September 19, 1943 in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Orville and Dorothy (Westoff) Hartman.

Mourning her passing are two daughters, Abigail Ludwig and Rachel Hills-Stoneking; one son, Chad M. Ludwig; one grandson, Jonathan Hills (Hannah Bard); one granddaughter, Jessica Gibson; mother, Dorothy Hartman; three sisters, Susan Morgan, Debbie Blanford, and Libby Pyle; and several nieces and nephews.

She was owner-operator of Abbie’s Wallpapering and Painting for nearly 40 years.

Abbie loved RV camping, bird-watching, mowing and yardwork, and bowling.  Abbie sponsored a bowling league for several years.  She was an active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Athens.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society.  Abbie was a life-member of the Illinois State Stock Horse Association (ISSHA).

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Athens, Illinois with a visitation starting at 1:00 P.M. until time of service at 2:00 P.M.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Memorials can be made to the Animal Protective League (APL) or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
