Phyllis Agrall, age 78, of Athens, took her first breath with all the Saints in heaven on Sunday night, March 4, 2012 at her residence, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis; a sister, Shirley (Bob) Smith of Dearborn, MI; two sons, Dan (Pam) Agrall of Mason City and Jeff Agrall of Williamsville; two daughters, Carrie (Gary) Rapp of Athens & Cherie (Bill) Schimm of Athens; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was born March 23, 1933 in Dearborn, Michigan, the daughter of John and Gladys (Moran) Vernier.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, and one son-in-law.

She married Lewis Agrall on November 13, 1954 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Dearborn, Michigan.

Starting in 1954, Phyllis and Lewis established their family farm business. She was also a Persian cat breeder for many years. She earned an Associate’s degree in Elementary Education from Henry Ford College in Dearborn, MI.

Phyllis has been associated with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod all of her life, being a Sunday school teacher for over 37 years, a choir member for over 50 years, an Altar Guild member, and being on an Evangelism Team. She also has been a member and past-president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Springfield Zone, and she was a member and past-president of the Ladies Aid at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Athens.

She was a member and past choir member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman. Phyllis is also a member of the Cat Fanciers Association.

Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman, Illinois from 9:00 AM until time of funeral service there at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens in charge of services.

Rev. James Stuenkel will be officiating.

Burial will be held at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens.

Memorials can be made to the Parkinson’s Research Foundation or the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman.
