Alan W.Blair, age 73, of Sherman,  passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born September 11, 1949 in Springfield, Illinois.

Alan married Mary Ann Lasky on September 6, 1969 at First Assembly of God in Springfield, Illinois.

Mourning his passing are his wife, Mary Ann; children, Alan W. (wife Lanae) Blair Jr. of Springfield and Christopher (wife Patricia) Blair of Athens; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Bambrough; aunt, Belva Hinds; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Merl and Elfreida Blair; brothers, Gene Blair and Jesse Blair; and sister, Barbara Bartnick.

Alan worked as a Mechanic, Carpenter, and Kitchen Bath Designer and Salesman. He worked for Pillsbury for several years as Millwright.  He also worked for Carter’s Brothers Lumber in Springfield.

Alan was a member of the Sherman Church of the Nazarene.

He sang southern gospel music, built and repaired computers, and did RC racing.

Alan served for the US Air Force in 1968.

Visitation for Alan will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 10:00 until time of funeral services at 12:00 Noon at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Sherman Church of the Nazarene.

  1. Mary Ann, we are so very sorry to hear of Alan’s passing. I always enjoyed to talking to him at our lunches. He had some interesting stories. Bill really enjoyed sharing stories with him. Alan is with God and at peace.

    So sorry to hear about Alan’s passing. He was a good man. I have really fond memories of when I was a kid and our families would hang out together and I would run around with Amber and Brendon. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
