Barbara Ann Fawns

Barbara Fawns, age 80, of Athens, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at The Bridge in Springfield, Illinois.

Barbara was born on January 28, 1944, to Charles and Mary (Boarman) Blakley. She married Loren Fawns on November 30, 1963, in Sherman, Illinois. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing on October 14, 2012.

She will be dearly missed by her son, Kevin (Karen) Fawns, and daughter, Karen (Edwin) Hedge. She was a loving grandmother to Andrew (Marie) Clotfelter, Blake (Kristi) Clotfelter, Ashley (Tommy) Jennings, and Katie (Kristopher) Deane, and a proud great-grandmother of five. Barbara is also survived by her sisters Jane Lederbrand, Nancy King, Kathy Clemens, and Lisa Madlinger.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; her parents, Charles and Mary; her brother, Richard Blakley; and her sister, Margaret Irwin.

She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Athens.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Athens, IL on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 9:00 AM, followed by burial at Pawnee Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to HSHS Hospice or Holy Family Catholic Church.
