Barbara Wolfe

d. July 16, 2019

Barbara Jean Wolfe, an 8 year resident of Colville, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2018 in Spokane, WA.  She was born on April 10, 1941 in Athens, IL to Roy and Doris (Holler) Nance.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; son, Kyle; sister, Sandra.  She is survived by her two loving children, Kevin (Lisa) Wolfe, Kettle Falls, WA, and Jamie Wolfe (Susan), Geneva, NY; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Barbara grew up in Athens surrounded by lots of family in the area.  She attended Athens High School where she was a band member and cheerleader, graduating with the class of 1959.  Barbara married Ralph “Gene” Wolfe on September 30, 1960 after a long courtship and many dates where he would take her roller skating or to the car races.  The couple would settle down in Petersburg, IL just one town over from Athens.  Gene worked as a high voltage electrician for the Central Illinois Power Service and Barbara owned and operated her own beauty salon from her home.

The family would welcome 3 children, Kevin, Kyle and daughter Jamie into their lives.  They would enjoy taking camping trips in the summer visiting many of the areas state parks.  Barbara enjoyed travelling and was an amateur artist, but her greatest talent was her ability to care for her family and cook.  She was a wonderful cook and would showcase her gift during the holiday season, family meals, birthday celebrations and get togethers. Barbara was especially well known for her famous fried chicken and mashed potatoes & gravy.  She was a wonderful hostess, and was always “game” for anything.  Barbara moved to Colville, WA in 2010 and quickly became fan of the Seattle Seahawks.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, and sister who will be dearly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Visitation for Barbara will be held on Saturday, July 20th from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, Illinois.

Burial of cremated remains will take place immediately following the visitation at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens, Illinois.
