George Bennett, 75, of Cantrall, passed away surrounded by his family on April 21, 2010 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He is survived by: Wife : Susan

Children : Lori (George) Withers of Athens

George F. (companion Amy) of Greenview

Lisa (Dennis) Brazier of Chatham

Brothers – Ernest (Joyce) Bennett

– Harold (Gloria) Bennett Fourteen Grandchildren

Eleven Great-Grandchildren

Several Nieces, Nephews & Cousins

George is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marie; and brothers, Harvy and Jim.

He was born February 11, 1935 in Springfield, Illinois the son of Harry and Florence Hoffert Bennett.

George is a member of the Athens Christian Church. He was a greeter at Wal-mart for eight years and a diesel mechanic for Altorfer for 30 years.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandkids and great-greandkids.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.

Memorials can be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital. Mott & Henning Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
