Bettyanne “Betty†Guthrie, age 83, of Petersburg, passed away on September 7, 2015 at home with her loving family by her side.
She is survived by her husband James of 58 years; two daughters, whom both are nurses, Paula Echols (Mark “Tonyâ€) of Tennessee and Sarah Bly of Springfield, IL; three grandchildren, James Echols and Stephanie Tribble of TN and Victoria “Tori†Bly of Springfield, IL; and one great-grandson, Anthony Tribble of TN.
Bettyanne is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pauline Dwinell; brother, Robert Lloyd; one grandson, Ryan Bly; and her two beloved black labs, Josie I and Josie II.
She was born on December 10, 1932 the daughter of Harry and Blossom (Shover) Lloyd.
Bettyanne was a nurse’s aide when she met the love of her life, James Guthrie Jr., who at the time, was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Bettyanne and James later married on May 18 th , 1957 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont.
She loved to bowl, dance and go camping. She often was known as, “Moped Momma†at Coon Creek Campground in Shelbyville. For many years, she could be seen on her golf cart as the Campsite Registrar at Deer Park Campground in Tallula. Betty was a Bears and Redskins football fanatic and would keep tally of the game scores in her own notebook.
Graveside Services for Betty will be on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Farmer’s Point Cemetery near Tallula.
