Richard “Richie” Brachear, age 35, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013 at his home.

Richard was born on May 30, 1978 in Springfield, Illinois at Memorial Medical Center.

He is survived by his mother and step father, Carolyn and Paul Ealey, a sister Charity Brachear (Frank McGee) of Springfield, niece Angelica Eskew (John McDonough), nephews Robert III and Weimack Eskew of Springfield.

Richard is preceded in death by his father Kevin Brachear, both grandparents Mark & Marietta Wood and Richard & Nathalie Brachear.

Richard was a hard worker and always had to have more than one job. His favorite job was detailing cars at Landmark Chrysler. He loved NASCAR and would go to the Michigan races every August with good friends.

He will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.

Rev. Ed Green will be officiating.

Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.

Memorials can be made to American Diabetes Association and National Kidney Foundation of Illinois.

Mott & Henning Funeral Home is assisting the family.

  7. So sorry I could not make the services. My heart goes out to Carolyn and Charity. You were so supportive of his decisions and never left his side.I never met such a sweet and easy going person as Richie. I am still looking for the recipe to make (I dont know or I dont care)LOL!I wish I would have met him sooner. The Michigan Race will never be the same without him. Rest in peace and pain free good friend.

  8. It has been years since high school and the last time I saw you. When I heard you had passed all I could think was another senseless loss in people so young. You will be missed by many. May God welcome you home and give you peace for all of eternity!
