Byron Denton

Byron Denton, age 79 of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Sunny Acres Nursing home in Petersburg.
He is survived by many close friends and loving caretakers from Sunny Acres.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother. Byron was born October 13, 1935 in Greenview, the son of Halpin James and Anna (Riley) Denton.
He enjoyed country music and played guitar for many years for the band Kenny Rogers and the Midnighters from Greenview, IL. Byron was a good ‘ol boy and will be missed by many.
Visitation will be from 10 : 11 AM on Monday, December 1, 2014, at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL. with funeral services to follow at 11 AM.
Rev. Blake Canterbury will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial can be given to the Menard County Food Pantry.
Burial will be held at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens.

Was so sad in reading of Byron’s passing. He was a long time family friend. I remember him playing the guitar and being at our house on many occasions.

I spent many hours as a member of The Midnighters, playing guitar and singing the old country songs. I remember sharing stories with Byron late nights in the park in Greenview. What a great guy he was and once you truly became Byron’s friend you were a friend for life.
