Calvin Colson, age 57, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born October 20, 1959, in Springfield, IL, the son of John R. Colson, Sr. and Ruth Williams-Colson.

Calvin is survived by one brother, John R. Colson, Jr. (Paulette) of Medora, IL; a sister, Carol Baker (Doug) of Springfield, IL; and a sister, Jean Snedigar-Deiss of Dade City, FL; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Colson; a brother, David Snedigar, Sr.; a sister, Elaine Elliott; and a niece, Lori Baker-Jones.

Calvin attended Menard County Special Education Classes in Tallula, IL, for eight years.

His hobbies and interests included many, such as bowling, enjoying his enormous collection of Wrestling Mania action figures, books, and videos.  He loved music of all kinds including singing, strumming his guitars and banjo, as well as his electric key board, was such an enjoyment for him.  Calvin loved people and has made numerous friends all over the US.  His enthusiasm for life and love for Christ and church activities was an important part of his life also.

Visitation for Calvin will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:30 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will immediately follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.  Mark Jones will be officiating.

Burial will be held at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Sweetwater.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Brother James Court, 2508 St. James Rd., Springfield, IL  62704
