Kathryn L. Carter age 91 of Athens, passed away on Saturday October 8, 2011 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.
Kathryn was born October 2, 1920 in Athens, the daughter of Harry and Fannie A. Cole Gudgel. Kathryn married Edgar Carter on Dec. 4, 1937.
She is survived by her daughter Deloris (Ron) Phillips of Petersburg; one grandson Jim (Cindy) Carter of Athens; three granddaughters Rhonda (Bart) Leinberger of Petersburg, Kathy Carter of Athens, Shelly Phillips of Athens and daughter-in-law Sandy Carter of Athens. Also survived by 4 great grandsons, 2 great granddaughters, 1 great-great granddaughter; Nathan Leinberger, Kyra Leinberger, David Gottschalk, Jack Gottschalk, Katie Carter, John Carter, and Faith Leinberger. Two sisters Betty Andreatta of Springfield and Rosie Molohon of Springfield and several nieces &nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband on February 13, 1970 and her son John (Jack) Carter in 1998 and also by three brothers & three sisters. Kathryn owned & operated Carter’s Corner Caf√© from 1972 until 1977.
Visitation will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4:30 PM until 7:30 PM on Tuesday and where funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday October 12, 2011.
Rev. Ken Gennicks will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association or Charity of Choice.

Delores,, and family,, so sorry about Kathryn,,she was really good to me when i worked for her… glad we got to talk about her the other day and so sorry she had to leave you.. but your memories will never leave you ,, just look to the stars ,, an she will be looking down at you also…. Dona..

I will forever remember Kathryn. She was one of the greatest. My best memories include Snowball. My heartfelt thoughts are with you all.
