Charles “Bud” Powell, age 87, of Williamsville, passed away on September 3, 2015 at Villa Health Care in Sherman.

Bud is survived by his wife Doris, a son Chuck (Sherri) Powell of Williamsville; two grandsons, Bill (Robyn) of Sherman and Zachary (Becky) of Kankakee, IL; one granddaughter Katie Bohannon (Tom) of Williamsville; seven great grandchildren; Zoe, Gage, Miley, Sophie, Luke, Elizabeth and Will; five sisters, Betty Cravens of Lake Ozark, MO, Dr. Barbara Powell of Overland Park, KA, Patricia Hunt of Tallahassee, FL, Judy Harms of Carlinville, IL, Jacquelyn Frakes of Sunrise Beach, MO; and brother, David Powell of Williamsville, IL.

Bud was born September 26, 1927 in Williamsville, IL the son of Fred and Bertha Hanner Powell.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Robert Powell.

Bud was a lifelong resident of Williamsville. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1945, serving 19 months in Japan, and another 10 years in the reserves. He managed the Williamsville Farmers Co-Op for 25 years until he retired in 1990. He owned and operated B&D Fertilizer with his wife and son. He was a member of the Sangamon County Board of Supervisors for 12 years, and Williams Township Supervisor for 32 years. Bud was dedicated to the Williamsville Fire Department, and was chief for 15 years. He was also a member of the Williamsville Christian Church where he served as deacon. He also enjoyed collecting model trains, spending time with his family, and he enjoyed being on his farm with his dog, Red.

Graveside Services for Bud will be held on September 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville.

Military honors will be conducted by Sangamon County Interveteran Burial Detail.

Rev. David Beals will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to, “Williamsville Fire Department.”
