Charles “Chuck” Downs

Charles “Chuck” Downs, age 69, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023
at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born on September 6, 1954 in Lincoln, Illinois, the son of Howard “Red” and
Marie Downs.
Mourning his passing are his son, Dylan (Lily) Downs; his daughter, Molly Downs; grandchildren, Elliana Downs and Teddy Downs; brothers, Harold M. Downs, Paul T. (Cheryle) Downs and John H. (Tammy) Downs; sisters, Joanne Wheatley, Marlene (Dale) Trueblood, and Dorothy Downs; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathleen Poteet; and brother, Darrell Downs.
Chuck worked as an elevator constructor for most of his life. He loved water and snow skiing, playing golf, and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed playing the drums.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be held on Monday,
September 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville.
The family is being served by Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL. Online

Hey Jodi, I’m so sorry to hear of Chuck’s passing. He comes from a large family that will all be together again.
