Charles “Jeff” Rebbe

d. January 4, 2023

Charles “Jeff” Rebbe, 65, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Jeff was born May 15, 1957 to Charles and Jane (Thomas) Rebbe. His parents preceded him in death.

He married Cheryl Landreth on July 24, 1976 in Petersburg, Illinois.

Mourning his passing are his wife, Cheryl; children, Trisha Rebbe (fiancé Jeff Ray) and Tracie (Jake) Sampson; three grandchildren, Wesley and Brynlie Sampson, and Henry Ray; siblings, Greg (Jane) Rebbe, Vicki (Loren) Baxley, Mark (companion Brenda Davis) Rebbe, Lacy Rebbe, and Kris “Cricket” Parkes; sister-in-law, Cindy (Mark) Bradley; and several nieces and nephews.

He is also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Shirley Landreth.

Jeff worked for Menard Electric for three years right after graduating from Greenview High School in 1975.  Jeff is a fourth generation farmer who spent his entire life on the farm. He was a big contributor to the local farming community and made many life-long friends.

He was a board member of Prairieland FS, member of the Menard County Farm Bureau, and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Petersburg.

Jeff and Cheryl starting dating at the age of 16, were together for almost 50 years and were married for 46 years.  They created decades of memories that will not be forgotten.

Jeff, or as some refer to him as “Sir Charles”, loved to travel with his wife and friends.  He enjoyed taking his friends golf money on the course.  Jeff always looked forward to Sundays in the pool with his family and grilling a delicious dinner.  He passed on his love of farming to his daughters and grandchildren. With Wesley he shared his love of showing cattle and taught Brynlie and Henry the importance of hard work.  Jeff enjoyed time with friends and spoiling his grandchildren.

He loved to listen to his music, which included classic rock and traditional country.  He enjoyed attending concerts and comedy shows.  Jeff enjoyed watching sports, especially golf and basketball.  He always did his best to attend his daughter’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.

Jeff was always full of suggestions and was known to lend a hand for those in need.

A private family visitation and service for Jeff will be held.  A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Wankel’s Warehouse at 18239 Kelly Street in Petersburg, where friends can come visit from 11:30 AM until 3:00 PM.

Burial will be held at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens.

Memorial contributions can be made to the “Jeff Rebbe Memorial Fund” at Alliance Community Bank, where donations will be used to continue Jeff’s legacy.
