Clara "Jane" Stetter

Clara “Jane” Stetter age 89 passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at her home near Cantrall, Illinois.

She was born on September 12, 1935 in Parma, MO the daughter of Clemmie Milton and Martha Evelyn Lucille Scribner.

Jane married Weldon Stetter on November 7, 1970, in Girard, IL.

Mourning her passing are her husband, Weldon; daughter, Kelly (Jim) Bick; Grandchildren, Hannah Jane (Andrew) Flint, James Patrick (Stephanie) Bick III, and Connor Bick; greatgrandchildren, Jack Weldon Flint, and James Patrick Bick IV; siblings, Bonnie (Dave) Books,

Sue (Bill) Koons, Kathy (Linh) Pham, Jerry (Krissie) Scribner; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by Daughter, Lynda VanRossum; Brothers, Richard, Clemmie “Buddy”, Larry Scribner.

Jane graduated from Nokomis High School.

Employment Background: Retired as Marketing Manager for Capitol Machinery (aka Altorfer Cat) in Springfield, Il

Memberships/Organization: Served as secretary for the Macoupin County Republican Central Committee, and program director the Macoupin County Republican Women’s Club.

Volunteered for St. John Vianney Women’s Society and established the first Christmas Cookie Walk fundraiser, now a long-standing annual event. Volunteered for the Heart Program tutoring one-on-one first grade reading at Cantrall Elementary.

Hobbies/Interests: Avid gardener that loved spending hours in her flower gardens and an accomplished fine china painter, but mostly loved spending time with her husband, daughter and family.

Services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025. Wake will begin at 9:00 am with funeral mass to follow at 10:00 am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Sherman, IL. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
