Gladys Council, age 100, of Williamsville, passed away on Monday, March 17 2014 at her residence.
She is survived by great nieces and nephews, Henry “Rusty” Russel, Sarah Burroughs, Joseph Heckelbech, Mark Grigiski, Marlene Umbach, and Monica Daniels; special friends Wilma Poe, Gertrude Yolkley, Grace Sherrock, and Joyce Barregarye. She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond in 1993.
Gladys was born on November 3, 1913 in Riverton, Illinois the daughter of George and Mary Myers.
Gladys was a 50 year member of Eastern Star. She retired from Williamsville State Bank and volunteered in several community activities.
Visitation will be held on Friday March 21, 2014 at 10:30 AM until time of service at 11:30 AM at Mott and Henning Funeral Home Athens, Illinois.
Rev. David Beals will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville.
Memorials can be made to Williamsville Christian Church.
Family is being served by Mott & Henning Funeral Home, in Athens, IL.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I loved Gladys and Tooney. They were an important part of my childhood and they always had a special place in my heart.

Mrs. Council was such a lovely lady. My daughters, Eden, Elise, and I were fortunate to live next door to her in the rental house in the early 90’s. We would visit across the fence and I would admire her colorful Johnnie Jump Ups. Fortunately, we were able to chat with her during the 100th birthday celebration a few months ago. She will be missed.
