Kathryn Culver, age 86, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Regency Nursing Home.
She was born March 24, 1928 in Logan County, near Fancy Prairie, the daughter of Frederick R. and Mollie Downs Burnett. She married Edward H. Culver in 1951 in Danville, IL. He preceded her in death in 1998, and also a daughter Linda S. Culver in 2000.
Mrs. Culver was a 1946 graduate of Stonington High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Yelton-Weaver Supply Co. in Springfield for a number of years.
A resident of Springfield since 1947, she was a homemaker and member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1955, where she was an active member of Mary-Ruth Circle. She was also an active member of the P.T.A., where she received a life membership for her services.
She is survived by two daughters Kathy (Randy) Nickell of Wheaton, Mary Lou Culver of New Buffalo, MI, two grandsons, David (Katharine) Nickell of Chicago and Christopher (Kaitlyn) Nickell of Palatine, one sister Betty Burnett of Taylorville, one brother Charles (Marjorie) Burnett of Vera Beach, FL., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield, IL. Services for close family will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 13, 2015.
Rev. Dr. Blythe Denham Kieffer will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens.
Memorials can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield, IL.

February 11, 2015 Dear Kathy and Mary Lou, Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of your mom. I remember her as a very kind, loving, and pleasant lady. When my mom, sister, and I went to Springfield last September, we did a drive-by of 7 Alberta Lane…many memories there. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May God grant you all His peace in the midst of the sadness. I understand that Katherine was a wonderful Godly woman, who radiated the love of Christ in her life. Mary Lou, please accept our condolences on the passing of your Mother. I remember her well and how helpful she was when Vickie was killed.

Kathy and Mary Lou, I am terribly sorry for your loss. Your remembrance at the funeral was brilliant, Kathy! I miss both of your parents. I don’t know most of the people who live on Alberta Lane anymore. I have people who live nearby, but your parents were my NEIGHBORS!

Kathy – I just heard about your dear mother. I am so sorry my dear friend. Your mother was always so warm and welcoming and even when she and my Dad were at the Regency together all it took was a mention that I was a friend of yours and she smiled and was so happy to see me. Her daughters were her pride and joy. My sympathy to you and Mary Lou.
