D. Elaine Bachman

D. Elaine Bachman, age 85, passed away on July 18, 2026 at 11:26 AM at the Villa East Nursing Care in Sherman, Illinois.

Elaine was born on November 3, 1940, in Eureka, Illinois the daughter of John and Myrtle Wing Bartlow.

Elaine graduated from Eureka High School in 1958.

Elaine married Richard Bachman on April 24, 1960 in Eureka, Illinois.

Mourning her passing are her husband, Richard; a daughter, Vicki Chiles (Michael) of Rochester; grandchildren, Makenna and Jayci Reese; a brother, Vernon Bartlow; sister, Roma Jean Wettstein; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of the Athens Christian Church, the Menard County Garden Club, and the Woodford County Farm Bureau for many years.

Elaine was an avid Precious Moments collector and had over 800 beautifully displayed throughout their home. She loved gardening, planting flowers, cooking, and baking.

Elaine touched many hearts in her lifetime and was known as a caring, kind, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation for Elaine will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 9:00 AM until time of memorial services at 10:30 AM at the Athens Christian Church in Athens. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield at 12:00 PM also on Monday. Rev. Ken Gennicks will be officiating.
