Dorothy J. Dirks age 89 of Athens passed away on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Sunny Acres Nursing home in Petersburg.
She is survived by one son Allison (Sherrie) Dirks of Athens and one grandson Bradley Dirks of Athens.
Dorothy was born August 20, 1922, in Middletown, IL. the daughter of Shelby and Edna Anderson Allison. She married Eddie Dirks on June 12, 1961.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Eddie on December 3, 2005.
Dorothy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church in Athens, and member of the Menard County Historical Society.
Visitation will be held from on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL. Funeral service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Athens at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 15, 2011.
Rev. Richard Becker will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Indian Point Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Dorothy was a good friend. “For by grace she has been sved through faith; and this is not of her own doing, it is the gift of God–not becasue of her good works..” (paraphrase of Ephesians 2:8-9

Dear Allison and family,
John Durdle sent me the sad news about your mother´s death. I do send you my deepest sympathy. As your father´s good friend from Ostfriesland I have very good memories when he was here twice. From that time on we called each other from time to time. He was so proud of his grandson.
You might know that in 2009 I met your mother in her home, she wanted to move into town at that time, John Durdle took us there. And he also took us to Eddie´s grave, so that we were able to put flowers on it. Now your parents are united again. I also sent this sad news to relatives in Germany as far as I know them, Dirk Dirks in Berlin, and Rudolf Onken in Grossefehn.
I am with you in my thoughts.
