Evelyn Elizabeth Cummings passed in her sleep on February 09, 2017 at the age of 89 years old in Auburn, Illinois.

Evelyn was born in Maroa, IL on June 02, 1927 to Arthur Curtis and Margaret Primmer.

She graduated from Bellflower High School and also attended Bloomington Teacher’s College.  She eventually retired from the State of Illinois Department of Mines and Minerals.

On November 12, 1945, she married the love of her life in her parent’s home in Bellflower, IL.  Together they bore their one and only child, Ron.

Evelyn was survived by her husband, Harry Allen Cummings along with her son Ronald (Suzanne), three grandchildren – Christy (David); Curt (Sabrina); and Lindsay (Rebecca), and six great grandchildren – Wyatt; Sierra; Kiersten; Brooke; Malik; and Bryson.

She was predeceased in death by her parents and three brothers Art, Ed and Carl.

In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and playing the organ.  She’d always play songs for her grandchildren when they would stop by for a visit. Evelyn and Harry would take laps around the White Oaks Mall in Springfield to keep fit and enjoyed daily meals at their favorite restaurant, Bob Evans.

Evelyn was a devoted wife and loved her family unconditionally.  She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Visitation was held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 11:00 AM until time of funeral services at 12:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.

Burial was held at Auburn Cemetery in Auburn.
