Fernola “Nodie” Strode

Fernola “Nodie” Strode, age 79, of Cantrall, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 25, 1938, the daughter of Frank and Mary Yates in Springfield, IL.
Nodie is survived by a son, Lee Strode (significant other, Terri Brake); a daughter, Nancy Jo (Bob) Johnson; granddaughter, Cassy Strode; great grandson, Ike Johnson; one brother, John Yates of Jacksonville; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harry, both parents, and several siblings.
Nodie also attended Springfield High School and enjoyed many class reunions.
She later retired from Memorial Medical Center after many years.
She was a member of the Cantrall United Methodist Church.
Nodie was the matriarch of her large group of family and friends.
Visitation for Nodie will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the funeral home at 10:00 AM.
Burial will be held at Strode Cemetery near Cantrall.
Rev. Paulette Cott will be officiating.
Memorials can be given to Strode Cemetery.

Jimmy and I pray that the family has comfort in this time of loss. Nodie touched so many lives. We all have memories of our life experiences with her.
