William “Bill” Fisher, age 62, of Cantrall, passed away Saturday June 15, 2013 at his home.
He is survived by his wife Linda; two sons Jason (Amy) Fisher and Art (DeAnna) Fisher both of Cantrall; grandchildren, Zachary, Kyle, Collin, and Peyton Fisher; two sisters; Carolyn Babington of Glen Carbon, IL and Kitty (husband Paul Schlough) Fisher Tobias of Stoughton, WI; nieces, Melissa Fisher Paoni, Sara Buske, and Molly Hantla; and nephews, John Babington and Tommy Tobias.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arthur & John Fisher.
Bill was born September 4, 1950, in Springfield, Illinois the son of Charles and Mary “Libby” Guymon Fisher.
Bill married Linda Kern on January 17, 1970 in Springfield, IL.
He retired in 2001 from AT&T after 33 years of service. After his retirement he worked at Camp Cilca. Bill served as Cemetery Sexton for Brittin Cemetery near Cantrall for several years.
Bill was a charter member of the 114th Illinois Volunteer Infantry (Reactivated). He was also a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Athens.
He served in the Naval Reserves from 1969 until 1970.
Bill cherished his grandkids and time spent with his family. He enjoyed shooting, fishing, and camping.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Mott & Henning from 4:00 until 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Athens at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 with Rev. Richard Becker officiating.
Burial will be held at Brittin Cemetery near Cantrall.
Memorials can be made to the Brittin Cemetery or Camp Cilca.
