Gayle Denton, age 61, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013 at her home. She is survived by her husband Cecil Denton, one son Andrew Denton of Springfield; mother Evelyn Freeman of Springfield; brothers Mike (Jan) Freeman of Petersburg and Pat (Suz) Freeman of Springfield; nephews Aaron and Josh Freeman; nieces Megan Freeman and Katie Kovac; And a huge list of friends see page 12.
She is preceded in death by her father Fredrick “Ferd” Freeman.
Gayle was born September 8, 1951 in Springfield, the daughter of Fredrick and Evelyn Freeman.
She graduated from Athens High School in 1969 and then married Cecil on March 29 of 1986.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 from 5 : 8 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 10 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.
Rev. Norman Mendell will be officiating.
Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville.

Cecil and Andrew, I am so sorry to hear about Gayle. She was a wonderful Christian woman! Gayle will be missed by so many people that she touched in her life. I pray that our Lord Jesus will comfort you and Andrew through the months and years to come, when you are missing your Wife and Mom.

So sorry for your loss Cecil and family. Will keep you in my prayers. May she rest in peace. Worked with Gayle many years ago at the Ill Dept of Revenue she will be sadly missed.

Cecil, Although it’s been quite a few years since we all hung out together, I’ve never lost my fondness for you and Gayle and the time we spent together (and with Kay). I was saddened by Gayle’s passing, and you guys have our sincere sympathy as you face life without her. I’m sure you have many fond memories to help you thru these difficult times. God Bless!

Larry and I are so sorry to hear of Gayles passing. I’ve had her on our prayer list at church. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Cecil, Andrew, and family. Treasure the memories you had with Gayle for these are so precious. Gayle was the most kind hearted person you would ever want to know. God surround this family with your love at this time of loss. Our deepest sympathies to Gayle’s family, especially Cecil, Andrew, and Ms. Freeman. Gayle was a sweet lady and a good neighbor who will be missed. We are thankful that her courageous struggle and pain are now over, and that she rests in peace and love.

Cecil I am so very sorry for your loss. Gayle was a wonderful person. I’m glad she & I reconnected on FaceBook so I could share this last year with her. She will not be forgotten. I hope you find some sort of peace within the love & memories your family & friends share with you. My deepest, heartfelt condolences.
