George A. Conlee

George Allen Conlee, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

He was born on August 3, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Allan M. Conlee and Geraldine (Richardson) Hughes.

George married Margie Medlock in 1960 in Quincy, Illinois, and they shared 40 years of marriage prior to her passing in February of 2000.

He is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Jason) Mital of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Melinda Conlee (Keith Ramey) of Springfield, Illinois; brothers, Jim Hughes and Richard Hughes; and granddaughter, Lillian Conlee Stevens.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie; his parents; and his sister, Sharolynn Funderburke.

George proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1959. He was a member of the American Legion and worked as a member of Asbestos Workers Local #1 for 30 years.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Brittin Cemetery near Cantrall, Illinois.
