Glen A. Maxwell

Glen Arthur Maxwell, age 79, of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.

He was born on September 13, 1947, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Vern and Mary Lynn (Johnson) Maxwell.

Mourning his passing are his sister, Doris (Rick) Manley of Sherman; two nieces, Dena Manley (Todd Rogers) and Holly Stock; six great-nieces and great-nephews; and close friend, Linda Sirianni.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents.

He graduated from Athens High School in 1965 and later graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville in 1970 with a double major in history and sociology.

Glen worked for Goodwill Industries as a training supervisor. He also worked in the mental health profession as a medical supervisor and later worked as a carpenter before retiring.

Glen enjoyed model trains and his MG cars. Throughout his life, he was a member of several model train and car clubs.

He was a longtime member and elder of Indian Point Presbyterian Church near Athens.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service for Glen will be held at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens at a later date.
