Mildred Hamlin, age 93, of Athens, passed away on Friday October 9, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She is survived by:
Two Sons – Gary of Springfield, IL
– Wendell ( Diana) Lincoln, Illinois
One Daughter – Carolyn Bryant ( William) of Athens
Five Grandchildren – Bill, Cathy, Marla, Stewart & Shaun
Two Great-grandson : Alex & Clayton
Several Nieces & Nephews

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin in 1989 and a son, Kenneth in 2003.

Mildred was born December 26, 1915 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the daughter of Carl and Edith Sargent Milliner.

Mildred enjoyed quilting, cooking and later she loved traveling.
Graveside services will be held on Monday October 12, 2009 at Joel Hall Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Autistic Foundation or Charity of Choice.

We were sorry to hear today of Aunt Aline’s death. Although I had not seen her or any of you for many years, I’m always sorry to hear of the loss of one of the relatives. One of my strongest memories of my childhood is when the Hamlins lived down by Nason and when we visited there was a very determined gander who stood guard between the house and the outhouse. He was the terror of my childhood! I remember times when the whole family was together at Grandma and Grandpa Milliner’s little house on the hill also. Most of the time when we were all growing up, though, we lived apart so we never really got well acquainted.

I hope that your memories of Aunt Aline are of great consolation to you at this time.
