James “Jim” Russell

James “Jim” Russell, age 72, of Springfield, formerly of Athens passed away on February 24, 2022 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield.

He was born July 21, 1949 in Hillsboro, Illinois the son of Boyd and Anna (Warner) Russell.

Jim is survived by two sisters, Maralyn Hammond of Litchfield and Bonnie Russell of Williamsville; and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Jim worked for SASCO Auto Parts for 30 years.  He later worked as a custodian for the PORTA School District, retiring in 2014.

He grew up the Athens Christian Church and was a member of the New Life Baptist Church.

As per his wishes, his body will be donated for medical research.  Private services will be held.
