Jamy Renea Nelson

d. July 19, 2021

Jamy Renea Nelson, age 62, of Athens Illinois, passed away on Monday July 19, 2021 at her residence.

Jamy was born September 17, 1958 in Rantoul Illinois to Jadora Ann (Cameron) Grosboll and James Morris Nelson. With her father in the Air Force, she and her family moved to the Philippines shortly after her birth. Jamy went on to live in Texas, Michigan, Nebraska, Colorado and California before spending the remaining 30 years of her life in Illinois.

In her youth, Jamy was an avid swimmer, and won 1st place in countless swimming meets. She also played the clarinet and was in the school marching band. After overcoming a rare disease when she was a toddler, she was diagnosed with a debilitating genetic disorder, alpha-1 deficiency, as an adult. In spite of all her health challenges, Jamy raised 3 children and remained a happy optimistic person. In her recent years she enjoyed watching Sci-Fi and hanging with her precious cat Zoey. Her family was very important to her. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Athens.

Mourning her passing are her children, Amber Wright (husband Jeffrey Watterson), Anthony Nelson, Alex Nelson; grandchildren; Anastasiya Wright, Timothy Kelley, and Lunette Bender-Nelson; mother Jadora Grosboll; siblings; Mike Salsbury, Kimberlee Percy (husband Tim Percy), Xandrea Caceres (husband Mario Caceres), and Matthew Grosboll; aunt, Linda Creamer (husband Dick Creamer); several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, James Nelson on August 22, 2014.
