Jerry D. Abbott

d. March 18, 2023

Our dear grandfather, father and husband Jerry Dale Abbott quietly passed away on March 18, 2023 at the age of 72 from complications with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia.

Jerry was a grandfather who took great pride in his nine grandchildren, Aidan (Josie), Brendan, Jacob, Carson, Grace, Anderson, Lila, Vivian and Elizabeth, and his two sons, Scott (Amy) and Jerad (Colleen). He was a devoted husband to his wife Nancy for the past 52 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Alice Abbott, brothers Kenny and Marvin, and grandson Finnegan Jerad Abbott. He is also survived by two sisters Carolyn (Bryden) Carnahan and Janice Boggs, and four brothers Raymond, Gary, Alvin, and Marty.

He also had many friends and was an involved member of the community of Sherman, IL where he lived for almost 60 years.

Jerry is a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of the Teamsters Union for 35 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, conservation, fishing, sporting events and family gatherings. Spending time with his grandchildren was one of his greatest joys.

The family would like to thank the staff at Country Lane Memory Care in Riverton, IL for their care and compassion.
