Joan Lee Nevitt

Joan Nevitt, age 89, of Mahomet, formerly of Havana, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells in Paxton, Illinois.

Joan was born December 5, 1934 in Athens, Illinois, the daughter of Melvin and Wilma (Libby) O”Neal.

She married Martin Nevitt on April 23, 1960 at the Athens Christian Church.

Joan is survived her daughter, Lisa (Mark) Griffeth; grandchildren, Andrew and Annilee Griffeth; and one nephew, Greg (Susan) Nevitt.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin; brother-in-law, Paul; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou.

Joan is a graduate of Athens High School and was a member of the Eastern Star.

She was a manager of Riverdale Apartments in Morton, Mississippi.

Joan loved to read.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.  Rev. Bill Boyce will be officiating.
