John R. Gustafson

John Gustafson, age 98, of Greenview, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at St. Joseph Home in Springfield.
He was born on May 17, 1919, near Greenview, Illinois the son of Albin and Ida Nelson Gustafson.
John married Kathryn McMillan on April 14, 1945. She preceded him in death in 2013.
John is survived by two daughters, Patricia Richter of Athens and Donna (husband Don) Todd of Athens; four grandchildren, Kathy and Mark (wife Ann) Richter, and Erin (husband Jim) Nelson and Ryan (wife Brianna) Todd; five great-grandchildren, Hanna Richter, Eden, Laurel, John Reed Nelson, and Samuel Todd; several nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Roy (wife Juanita) McMillan.
He was a life-long farmer in the Greenview and Athens area.
John was a member of the Greenview United Church.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral services at 11:00 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens with Rev. Stephanie McCullough officiating.
Burial will be held at Indian Point Cemetery
Memorials can be made to charity of choice.

Our sympathy to John’s family he was a great person. Kurt enjoyed the times he was with John and Kate and their McDonald meals on way home. May your memories of the good times bring you comfort. He is at rest with his beloved Kate. Velda Plopper and Kurt Messersmith
