John Riedle

John Riedle, age 83, of Greenview, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born on August 4, 1934 in Mt. Pulaski, Illinois the son of John and Pearl (Purget) Riedle.

John married Beverly Ann Clem on August 12, 1956 at the Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, Mark (wife Chris) Riedle, Paula (husband Tom) Rebbe, and David (wife Tess) Riedle; one grandson, Tom Rebbe; seven granddaughters, Nicole Fisher, Makenzie Shull, Kelsie Riedle, Jamie, Lindsey, Abby, and Katie Riedle; four great-granddaughters, Carley, Elise, Sophia, and Skylar; one sister, Phyllis (husband Ron) Bailey; and several nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe and Jerry; and sisters, Esther, Margaret, and Colleen.

Mr. Riedle was a 1952 graduate of Mt. Pulaski High School.  He was a manager for Kaiser-Estech Chemical Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the Mt. Pulaski Christian Church; a member and Past Master of  Greenview Masonic Lodge 653, AF&AM; a member of the Ansar Shrine Scottish Rites Valley of Springfield and charter member of the Ansar Past Masters Unit; member of New Salem Shrine Club; life member and past commander of AMVET Post 179; and a member of the Rotary Club of Greenview.  He also served for the Elmwood Cemetery Board.

John served for the Illinois Air National Guard.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home with Rev. Stephanie McCullough officiating.

Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview with military honors.

Memorials can be given to Greenview AMVET Post 179.

  15. John was so much fun being around his laughter and million dollar smile.He always thought I talked to much so he would turn his hearing aid down and smile at me and just nod his head. We will miss him.Bless you BEV and your family. Love Tony and Sharon
