Jackie Johnson, age 75, of Springfield, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Poe; two sons, Mark (Brenda) Johnson of Springfield and Kevin Johnson of Schenectady, NY; two daughters, Rayette Johnson of Schenectady, NY and Deanna (Andy) Isom of Denver, CO; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ken (Jane) Johnson and Bud (Betty) Johnson of Lincoln; a brother-in-law, Paul Schmock of Middletown; and several nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Bob Johnson and a sister, Pat Schmock.

Jackie was born September 13, 1935 in Sullivan, Illinois the son of Frederick and Gladys Giertz Johnson.

He married Wanda Hunter on June 13, 1958. She preceded him in death after 41 years of marriage. He later married Charlotte Poe on August 14, 2009.

Jackie worked for the State of Illinois as a Stationary Engineer. He was an active member of the Springfield Elks Lodge #158. He was also a member of the Eagles Club, American Legion, Riverton-Lavely Masonic Lodge #786, New Holland Masonic Lodge, and Sherman Athletic Club.

Jackie was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy. He then joined the Air National Guard and later retired with nearly 20 years of service.

Graveside services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM.

Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
