Kenneth Sampson, age 95, of Lincoln, formerly of Greenview, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at The Christian Village in Lincoln, Illinois.

He was born June 30, 1925 in Greenview, the son of Roy E. and Laura (James) Sampson.

Kenneth married Ida May Allison on November 27, 1947.  They were married for over 70 years.  She preceded him in death in March of 2018.

Mourning his passing are his daughter, Marilyn (David) Musick of Normal, IL; a son, Stephen K. (Jeanette) Sampson of Bloomington, IL.; four grandchildren, John (Sarah) Musick, Allison (Sean) Kerr, Denise (Mathew) Rayman and Laura (Onsel) Badur; four great-grandsons, Isaiah and Jeremiah Kerr, Elijah and Benjamin Musick; one great-granddaughter, Robin Rayman; one sister, Beverly McAllister; and his close companion, Betty Meaker.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, LeRoy; and a brother-in-law, Robert McAllister.

He graduated from Middletown Community High School in 1943.

Kenneth farmed in the Greenview area for all of his life, except during his military service. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 until 1946 during the World War II, receiving bronze star for his service in the Philippines.

He was devoted to his Lord and Savior and served as Treasurer and Elder for Irish Grove Presbyterian Church for many years.  He later became a member of the Greenview Christian Church.

Kenneth was a member of the American Legion in Greenview.  He dearly loved his family and would show his love through acts of service.

Visitation for Kenneth will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 9:00 until time of funeral services at 10:00 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens with Steve Miller officiating.

Burial at Irish Grove Cemetery near Middletown, Illinois.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Greenview Christian Church; 301 S. Alkire Street; Greenview, Illinois 62642.

    So sad to learn of your dad’s passing , just as I was to learn about your mom 3 years ago. I have great memories of being at your house when we were all very young. I will always remember your dad’s easy smile and your mom singing and playing the piano at your house, and taking us to Bible School. Sending my heartfelt condolences.
