Marjorie Jane Kern, age 86, of Sherman, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at St. John’s Hosptial. She is survived by a son, Kevin (Carolyn) Kern of Twin Lakes, WI; two daughters Karla (Dale) Dirks of Athens & Kristi Kern of Sherman; six grandchildren, Kama (Robby), Jessica (Brandon), Matthew, Jacob, Michael & Luke; Great-grandchildren, Kaylen, Kenley, Kelsey, Lyle & Sydney.
Marj is preceded in death by her husband Lyle in 2008.
She was born on September 24, 1927 in Peoria, IL the daughter of Walter and Marie (Gries) Newton.
Marj married Lyle Kern April 24, 1954 in Springfield, IL.
She was a member of St. John’s Vianney Church and the Altar & Rosary Society of Holy Family Church prior. She was employed by the Villa Healthcare West for 25 years, where she truly enjoyed the staff and residents.
Marj enjoyed cooking for her family, playing cards, & bingo. She loved her family, and especially watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 9 AM until time of memorial mass at 10 AM at St. John Vianney Church in Sherman, IL.
Memorials can be made to Villa Heathcare West or the American Diabetes Association.
Burial will be at a later date.

God bless you as you grieve this significant loss. Peace to all of Marjorie’s family and friends. I am a co-worker of Kristi’s. May your holidays be blessed as you remember your mother and grandmother.
