Jane Kirby, age 72, of Greenview, died Sunday July 6, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Surviving by:Husband – Merle

Son – Mike (Lori) Kirby of Mason City Daughter : Durinda Kirby of Athens Three Grandchildren – Landon “Hoss”(wife Jamie) Kirby of Petersburg

Natasha (friend Adam Bacon) Kirby of Greenview

Kaylee Kirby of Mason City Two Step Grandchildren – Ryan & Jeremy Hatfield of Mason City Sister : Norma Jean (Bill) Marshall of Springfield

Brother – William E. (Susan) Armstrong of Rantoul Several Nieces & Nephews

She is preceded in death by her parents and son Patrick “Fudd”on January 6, 2005.

Mrs. Kirby was born October 12, 1935 in Springfield, the daughter of Earl and Hazel Mehl Armstrong.

She graduated from Tri-City High School in 1953.

Jane worked at the Secretary of State office, retiring on December 31, 2005 after 20 years of service. She also was the owner of the Kirby Department Store for10 years.

Mrs. Kirby was member and Elder of the Greenview United Presbyterian Church.

Jane loved gardening, cooking, fishing and taking care of her grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Greenview United Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held also be held there on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M.

Rev. Julie Wells Blythe officiating.

Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview.

Mott & Henning Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

  3. Merle and family, Jane and I go way back, as you know. I will always remember the Burg days of growing up and spending time at the Armstrongs’. And, then of course, our days at good old TC where we shared the 1953 graduating class. I will never forget her as she was a part of my early life. My condolences also to Jeanie. Our prayers are with you all.
