Laverna “June” Sherry

Laverna “June” Sherry, age 79, of Petersburg, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She is survived by daughter, Brenda (Cline) and her husband, John Grady of Carson City, NV; two granddaughters, Katie and Shawna; one grandson, Jonathan; brothers, David Lee and Milton; sisters, Sherly, Lorraine, and Pam; several nieces and nephews; and significant other, Albert Knous and his family.

June was born on June 15, 1937 in Buffalo Hart, Illinois, the daughter of Homer Brake and Jessie Brake Carroll.

She owned and managed several apartments and restaurants.  June then later owned and operated JJs Longbranch in Athens for several years.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.

Rev. Ed Sprinkle will be officiating.
