Lewis "Lew" Agrall

ATHENS

Lewis “Lew” Agrall, age 92, of Athens, took his first breath with all the Saints in heaven on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

 He was born January 16, 1932 in Athens, Illinois, the son of Paul and Mary (Tobias) Agrall.

Lew married Phyllis Vernier on November 13, 1954 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Dearborn, Michigan.

 Mourning his passing are two sons, Dan (Pam) Agrall and Jeff Agrall; two daughters, Carrie (Joel) Hopwood and Cherie (Bill) Schimm; nine grandchildren, Matthew Agrall, Christy Snyder, Erica Roberts, JP Agrall, Andrea Rose, Kirsten Rapp, Ryan Yutzy, Laura Dacres, and Katie Jo Schimm; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins

He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; his parents; and brother, Robert Agrall.

He farmed all his life up until his last day. Lew raised livestock, mostly Shropshire sheep for all of his life.

 He served as a Sergeant in the Korean Conflict and for the Secret Service for the US Army.

 Lew was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Athens and later a member of Good Sheperd Lutheran Church in Sherman, Illinois,

His family was everything to him throughout his life.  

Visitation for Lew will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman, Illinois from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service there at 11:30 AM on Monday, July 8, 2024. Rev. Matt Schneider will be officiating. Burial will be held immediately after the services at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens, IL.
