Linda Lou Oller, age 76, of Athens, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 4, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born October 12, 1945 in Kampsville, IL the daughter of Arthur and Adella (Roentz) Ritter.

Linda married James Cecil Oller in June of 1969 in Kampsville, IL and was married for 18 years.

Mourning her passing are her children, Jim (wife Missy) Oller, Sarah Gallaher (partner Tim Boggs), Tom (wife Jodi) Oller, and Mark (wife Amanda) Oller; thirteen grandchildren, Jordan (husband Colten), Bethany, Andrew, Zoey, Ben, Skylar, Riley, Quenten, Gabe, Karris, Emilee, Reed, and Mitchell; five great-grandchildren, Beckham, Parker, Bastian, Helena, and Scarlett; and several nieces and nephews.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Art, Willis, Thelma, and Mark; and companion, Frank Eder.

She graduated from Calhoun High School in 1963.

Linda worked for Illinois Secretary State from 1963 until 1977 and the State of Illinois Comptroller’s Office from 1985 until her retirement in 2012.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Athens.  Her faith was extremely important to her.

Linda was an avid Chicago Cubs fan throughout her life.  She loved soap operas, word searches, Jeopardy, and butterflies.

Visitation for Linda will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Athens.  A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM also at the church.

Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens immediately after the mass.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital or Holy Family Catholic Church.

Mott & Henning Funeral Home is assisting the family.

I always admired her because she told it like it was and bragged about her kids and grandkids because she was so proud of all of them. She will be missed for sure. RIP Linda.

  14. I was so sorry to read this news. I will always remember Linda’s smile and laugh. Back in the curly perm days, when we both had them, I would be shopping somewhere and hear someone yelling “Linda! Linda! Wait”. I would look up or turn around and they would say “You’re not Linda” and I would answer “Yes I am but I’m not Linda Oller.”!We always got a good laugh from it.

  15. I am so sorry to read of Linda’s passing. She was such a wonderful lady! I worked with her many years at the Comptroller’s office. I enjoyed the time I worked with her and always enjoyed talking to her. Of course, most of the conversations involved her children and grandchildren which she was oh so proud of! I remember her being a very kind and caring person who enjoyed making others laugh. She will be missed by many! Please know my thoughts and prayers are with the family!

    I met your mother many years ago at the old laundromat owned by my husbands Aunt Mary Jurgens in Petersburg.

    What a treat it was to run into her and share funnies about our kids together.
