Marilynn Ferricks

Marilynn Ferricks, age 80, of Springfield, formerly of Athens, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Regency Care in Springfield.

She was born February 24,1945 in Lincoln, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin and Helen (Post) Beccue.

Marilynn married Donald Ferricks on July 9, 1966 in Athens, IL and were happily married for 58 years.

Mourning her passing are her husband, Don; daughter, Melanie (David) Capps; son, David (Lisa) Ferricks; grandchildren, Logan and Evan Capps, Brooke and Carter Ferricks; brother, Glenn (Diana) Beccue; aunt, Harriett Abeln; uncle, Bill Post, as well as several cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Marilynn graduated from Browns Business College in Springfield, IL.

Marilynn worked at Athens State Bank, currently known as Alliance Community Bank, for 34 years where she was the head of the bookkeeping department and assistant cashier.

She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman where she was also a member of Friends in Faith. In addition, she also was an active member in Soldiers Aid Society in Springfield. Marilynn enjoyed volunteering at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Lincoln’s New Salem Historic Site.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Visitation for Marilynn will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd from 4-7 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd at 9 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman. Memorial services will immediately follow at 10 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Memorial contributions can be made to 114th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Soldier’s Aid Society or Friends in Faith.
