Michael S. Ater

Michael Ater, age 45, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital.

Michael was born on May 23, 1973 in Springfield, Illinois.

He is survived by parents, Ruth and Tom Ater; one son, Michael Ater II; four siblings, Jeremey, Naomi, Marlana, and Tina.

Michael was a wonderful father and son who valued family above all else.

He affectionately donated organs for others through Gift of Hope.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Memorials can be given to any Marine Bank in Springfield in memory of Michael.  There will be a benefit event that will be held at Coonrods on Saturday, September 15, 2018.
