Michael C. Haggard, age 63, of Andrew, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He is survived by his wife, Mary “Ruth” Haggard; a son, Dan (Misty) Haggard, grandsons, Claude and Maysen; two daughters April Haggard-Desai and Stephanie Haggard, granddaughters, Claudia, Clarissa, and Cassidy; brothers, David (Barbara) Haggard, Russell (Tonya) Haggard, Timothy Haggard, and John A. (Lori) Haggard, Jr.; and sisters, Marianne Goeringer, Janet Rhodes, Teresa (Bill) Payne; numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn; a son, Jeremy Haggard; and a brother, John S. Haggard.

He was born January 27, 1950 in Springfield, Illinois.

Michael was employed at PPG, Sangamo Electric, and Union Bus Terminal prior to his retirement. He was a life-long resident of Williamsville area, where he attended the Williamsville schools.

He served for the U.S. Navy.

Michael was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman, USS Vessole, American Rabbit Breeders Club, Illinois Rabbit Breeders Club, and Springfield Rabbit Breeders Club.

Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman from 10:00 until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon on Monday, April 29, 2013.

Rev. James Stuenkel will be officiating.

Burial will be held at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens.

Memorials can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his VA home care team and his nurse Donnette, who made such a difference in his life.
