  1. I first met Mike at MacMurray College and ran into him years later at an event down in St. Louis. We became friends again and I saw him every year or so, though I hadn’t heard from him since I was in Springfield a couple of years ago. I ran into him when I was at a farmers’ market on the fairgrounds and we talked at length at the time. I’m so very sorry that I missed the funeral, since I am in St. Louis today and didn’t find out about it until about 11:30 this morning. My sincerest condolence go out to Stephen and the other members of his family.
