Milton “Milt” Crain, age 85, of Athens, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL.
He was born on June 5, 1941in Woodson, IL, the son of William and Virginia (Weller) Crain.
Milt married Linda Malicoat on June 9, 1973 at First Baptist Church in Danville, IN.
Mourning his passing are his wife, Linda; son, Chad (wife Rhonda) Crain; daughters, three Judy (husband Darrell) Boyleston, Joyce (husband Dave) Gaston, and Jean (husband Roger) Nesch; fifteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, James Crain; brother, Kenneth Crain and sister, Carolyn Wiese.
Milt graduated from Northwestern High School in Palmyra, IL in 1959. He later attended Lincoln Bible Institute in Lincoln, IL.
He worked for Hangers Music Shop, Fashion Furniture, Montgomery Wards, TSC, Central Tractor, Grainger, and R&H Tire Center. Milt served as minister for several churches in the area, including New Life Baptist Church in Athens.
Milt loved gardening and traveling with his wife, Linda.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at New Life Baptist Church in Athens on Saturday July 25, 2026 at 11:00 AM.
Memorial contributions can be made to the New Life Baptist Church in Athens.
