Nancy Wall, age 76, of Auburn, Illinois, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026 at her residence.
She was born May 8, 1950, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Kathryn Lucille (Wernowsky) Hoke.
Mourning her passing are her children, Brett (wife Alison) Wall and Stephanie (husband Rich) Stewart; grandchildren, Madison (husband Hendrick) Hamilton, Madison Stewart, Parker Stewart, Jaryn Stewart, and Sadie Wall; siblings, Steve (wife Penny) Hoke and Greg (wife Sharon) Hoke; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Tara Wall.
Nancy graduated from PORTA High School in 1968 and later graduated from Memorial Nursing School in 1971, earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
For many years, she devoted herself to caring for others as a nurse in the emergency room. Her years in the ER were a reflection of the kind of person she was—strong, compassionate, selfless, and always willing to help someone in need.
Nancy loved spending time with her loved ones, playing and listening to music, volunteering, working in her garden, and traveling. Above all else, Nancy loved Jesus. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she found comfort, strength, and joy in Him. She lived in her faith not only through her words, but through the way she cared for people, served her community, and loved her family.
Though our hearts are heavy with her absence, we find comfort knowing that she is now resting in the arms of the Savior she loved so dearly. Nancy leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by accomplishments alone, but by the countless lives she touched. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and the many lives she made brighter simply by being apart of them.
