Helen G. “Tootie” Black Neavill, age 90, of Williamsville, formerly of Fancy Prairie passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Helen is survived by two sons; Larry (Linda) Neavill of Winchester, KY and Jim Neavill of Springfield, one daughter; Jan Primm of Jacksonville, four grandchildren; Michael (Rebecca) Neavill of Cincinnati, OH, Julie Slagle of Lexington, KY, and Olivia and William Primm of Athens. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren; Jullian, Bailey, Emma, Cora and Jack; and thirteen nieces and nephews

“Tootie” was born on December 24, 1920 near Williamsville, the daughter of Harvey Nelson Black and Irene Rose Budd Black. She married Arthur E. Neavill on October 20, 1945 at Chanute Air Base nearby Champaign, IL. They farmed in the Fancy Prairie area until Art had passed away. Art preceded her in death on September 18, 1978. “Tootie” also is preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey, Robert, and Wayne Black; two sisters, Gladys Baxley and Rose Kristoff.

She graduated from Williamville High School in 1938.

Visitation will be held on Saturday May 21, 2011 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in at 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:30 AM.

Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville. In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to Athens or Williamsville Fire Department.

  1. What a sweet little lady, and could read faster than anyone I know. We would leave to go to her son Larry’s in Lexington and she would almost finish a book by the time we got there. I was impressed.. I’m so sorry but she was ready you guys will have a special guardian angel..
