Norma Jean Miller, 102, of Petersburg, formerly of Greenview, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2017.

She was born on September 7, 1915 in Greenview, IL to Alva Stephen and Clemma Childers Trumbo.  She married Herman H. Miller on September 2, 1936 at the St. John’s in Greenview.

Norma is survived by her daughter Janet and her son-in-law Larry Lyons.  Also surviving are her six grandchildren: Clint (Rebecca) Miller of Chengder, China; Bruce (Tasha) Miller of Naperville, IL; Shannon (Mark) Whalen of Mechanicsburg, IL; Chad (Chrissy) Lyons of Chicago, IL. Darin (Sarah) Lyons of Bloomington, IL.; Kristen (Jeff) Legner of Bloomington, IL; She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren: Veronica Miller, Victor Miller, Jake Miller, Ryan Miller, Adam Miller, Luke Whalen, Brenna Whalen, Claire Lyons, Nicholas Lyons, Thomas Lyons, Jackson Legner, and Henry Lyons; and also by nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman and son, James.

Norma lived on the family farm for 39 years working alongside her husband with the farming operation.  After losing her husband, she moved into Greenview where she was active in her local church, Greenview United Church, she continued to play bridge with her friends of many years, she loved to travel with her friends, and most of all enjoyed attending every activity possible involving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 9:30 AM until time of funeral services at 10:30 AM at the Greenview United Church in Greenview with Rev. Stephanie McCullough officiating.

Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview.

Memorials can be given to The Greenview United Church.

  1. Sorry to read of your mom’s passing. She had a long life but it’s always a sad feeling to lose a loved one.
