Paul Hillyer, age 67,of Springfield, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at his residence.
Paul is survived by his wife Debbie, two sons; Chris Hillyer, James (Jean) Hillyer; five daughters, Cheri (Don) Doolin, Cathy (Mark) Leathers, Bobbie (J.J.) Borski and Julie Hillyer, and Tina (Mark) Palazzolo; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters; three brothers; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Scott Hillyer; 2 grandchildren, Kayla and Marcus; and 2 brothers, Robert and Kenneth Hillyer.
Paul was born January 11, 1948 in Rock Island, IL the son of Harold and Gladys (Twitchell) Hillyer.
He married Debra on May 28, 1988.
He cherished his family. Paul loved NASCAR, car shows, camping, and fishing.
Visitation will be held 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at West Cemetery in Athens.
Rev. Shane Baker will be officiating
Memorials can be made to the Animal Protective League in Springfield.

I am glad you became my dad even before I met my biological dad and loved me as your own. I couldn’t leave you out when I got married so I asked you both to walk me down the isle! In many ways you were more of a dad to me and I will forever miss you and cherish the memories! love you!
