Sylvia Powell age 95, of Petersburg passed away on April 23, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center.

Survived by: Brother : Kenneth Magee of Petersburg

Mrs. Powell was born November 8, 1913 in West Plains, MO the daughter of Roscoe & Sophia Wernowsky Magee.

She married Cecil Powell on June 20, 1934 in Springfield.

She is preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, parents, brothers Floyd, Arthur, and Sam Magee, and sisters Sophia Moakley, Blanche McHenry and Wilma Eddings.

Mrs. Powell was a membership of the Elm St. Christian Church in Springfield. She was meat wrapper for Eisner’s Food Store for more than 23 years.

Visitation will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home on Monday April 27, 2009 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.

Rev. Paul Cox will be officiating.

Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville.

Memorial can be made to Elm St. Christian Church or Charity of Choice
